FOCUS Coworking is proud to be part of the Wisconsin Rural Entrepreneurial Venture (REV) Program right here in Jefferson! This exciting three-year initiative is designed to strengthen rural communities by supporting local entrepreneurs and helping them grow.
Jefferson is one of only six communities in Wisconsin chosen to participate in the REV program. Led by a local core team—which includes our very own Damon Schopen of FOCUS Coworking—the program brings together community leaders and organizations who share a common goal: to build a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem in our town.
What is the REV Program All About?
The REV Program is supported by UW–Madison Extension and gives rural communities like Jefferson the tools and guidance to foster business growth. Each community is paired with a dedicated REV coach; ours is Steve Schopen. He helps guide the core team as we focus on:
Identifying and supporting local entrepreneurs
Connecting them with the resources they need to grow
Focusing on industries that are in high demand locally
With expert coaching and valuable data from UW–Madison, the Jefferson team is taking a focused approach to boost small business and entrepreneurial leadership in our area.
Jefferson’s REV Goals
Our local team has identified four key goals for the REV program in Jefferson:
Launch a leadership development program
Designed to help individuals grow—whether they’re business owners, community leaders, or just beginning their entrepreneurial journey.
Encourage collaboration across community groups
Jefferson is home to many organizations working toward similar goals. REV helps bring these groups together to create a stronger, more unified impact.
Increase civic engagement, especially among youth
By introducing students of all ages to entrepreneurship, we’re planting the seeds for future business owners right here in Jefferson.
Expand resources and support for entrepreneurs
Starting a business is tough, and we want to make it easier. From mentorship to practical tools, the REV program is about lifting each other up.
